Dagne is personal freedom - Everthing we want in a commuter vehicle, powered completely by local energy.

1 - Efficiency. Dagne is efficient enough to run on local renewable energy - with an investment in a small solar panel on the roof of your home, your local transportation would be completely off-grid.

2 - Flexibility. Dagne is flexible as both a pure electric vehicle (EV) and a hybrid (HEV) - four gallons of gas or biodiesel would provide a driving range of 600 miles.

3 - Performance. Options for high performance are possible that do not compromise efficiency - Dagne will accelerate and corner like a Porsche, while being significantly more efficient than a Prius.

4 - Affordability. Due to the mechanical simplicity of the series electric drive system, we will be able to sell Dagne for under $20,000.

5 - Safety. Dagne's superior safety results from protection frame similar to those employed in racecars. Safety is augmented by advanced (racecar style) seat belts and airbags.

Dagne is a front/back (tandem) two-seat vehicle. Dagne is sleek and narrow making her aerodynamically efficient, and she leans into turns, providing superior cornering performance and comfort. Dagne has about 300 fewer moving parts than typical cars and she does not need oil. Because of this she requires almost no maintenance and she will have a significantly longer lifetime than traditional cars.

Dagne is an experience of personal freedom. Not only will she be exhilarating to drive, she will provide her owners with complete transportation-energy independence. Dagne is an unparalleled combination of efficiency, performance, affordability, and most importantly, an integral part of a sustainable community.

Where does the name "Dagne" come from?

"Dagne" (pronounced dag-nee) is adapted from the name of the heroine in Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged", who in her struggle to reconcile personal self interest with the greater good of the community, discovers that there exists a path for each of us that serves both our self interest and the greater good of the community. "Dagne" is Scandinavian in origin and means "new day".
